Jun. 24th, 2006 06:11 pmThe sun's bright (well, in England terms, it is) and the air is fresh (aside from the pollution from the cars) and the food is fresh (okay, no, it's take-away, but that'll do).
They hadn't had hotel reservations, but you'd be surprised what miracles being the son of satan could bring about, and you'd be surprised how comfortable the beds at the Mandarin Oriental are, even if Adam and Alanna spent more of the night smiling awkwardly at each other than sleeping. (Yes, just smiling awkwardly. No, that's not a euphemism. They may not have a lot of tact, but there was another person in the room, you perverts.)
And after store after store (after store) of being subjected to Alanna and Lucy's retail therapy, Adam's more than pleased to be stretched out on a blanket near a small lake (pond, really) with the sound of traffic almost, but not quite, out of hearing.
"Would one of you mind passing me a biscuit?"

"It's comforting, really, when things stay the same. Though perhaps not always good."

Date: 2006-06-25 12:08 am (UTC)Alanna likes the park here and just the way it is because it's the closest thing to home. Which is funny, really, considering how excited she gets about everything new to explore in London.
"It is better, perhaps, that things stay similar. Grow, rather than stagnate."

there's a pause, there-
"current girlfriend."

Date: 2006-06-25 01:10 am (UTC)Lucy chooses to ignore the fact that if knights should, queens probably should too.
Because she can.

Date: 2006-06-25 01:18 am (UTC)She chokes.
The water is swallowed, but only just. Coughing, she looks at Lucy with wide eyes.
"Lucy-" More staring. It's like Liam in female form. "I'm honest already!"

Date: 2006-06-25 01:31 am (UTC)"She's perfectly honourable!"
He flushes, though, with a light grin on his face as he sits up a bit, leaning back on his arms.
Thinking back to their conversation, he adds-
"Besides. If I did that, where would be all the fun with prisons?"
But there's only a half-hearted attempt at humour behind it.

Date: 2006-06-25 01:41 am (UTC)The details of their previous conversation escape her at the moment.
And then they don't.
"Oh! Yes. I'm meant to break you out of prison for defending my honor. It would make a good story, I suspect."
Distract!

Date: 2006-06-25 01:43 am (UTC)Instead, they turn to Lucy.
"It's not as if I didn't offer."
COUGH.
"Sort of."

Date: 2006-06-25 01:45 am (UTC)"Adam? You cannot 'sort of' propose," she says sternly.
"You must offer properly."

Date: 2006-06-25 01:51 am (UTC)Bright red, Alanna looks back and forth between them.
"No, he mustn't." She bites her lip. "I mean- We talked about it! I don't expect that. I never expected that!"
A little panicked, Alanna glances at Adam and finds herself quite unable to look away.

Date: 2006-06-25 01:59 am (UTC)His voice, though, is low, quiet, only the two of them can hear him.
"I know you don't expect it."
And he bites his lip and grins, and he glances back at Lucy, only very quickly, before turning back to Alanna.
"Maybe that makes it better."

Date: 2006-06-25 02:07 am (UTC)He doesn't have a ring aside from the one he's already given her, but he holds her hand in his, and squeezes it.
"Alanna of Trebond. Would you do me the honour of being my wife?"
no subject
Date: 2006-06-25 02:19 am (UTC)Or maybe not.
Looking deep into his eyes, she bites her lip and smiles, her free hand lifting to his cheek.
"Aye, Adam. I do believe I will. It would be my honor as well."

Date: 2006-06-25 02:21 am (UTC)And only that, but it is true, and meant, and so only that is not really only anything, at the moment.

Date: 2006-06-25 02:25 am (UTC)"So! Tower of London, and then a Register's Office."

Date: 2006-06-25 02:33 am (UTC)Still dazed, she squeezes his hand and beams at Lucy.
