Sep. 13th, 2006 11:10 pmAn altercation, she'd said.
An altercation with a woman, and that she was locking herself in a cell for a bit. Not really clear on how long "a bit" was going to be, though when Adam tapped his foot, she managed to look suitably sorry.
But that's all she told him, other than the fact that Jack was there. Which could likely explain why Adam's currently tapping that same foot, but on the shore of the lake, looking out at the ship that's been parked there.

Date: 2006-09-14 03:14 am (UTC)A very long, very interesting night, and that's why Jack Sparrow is anything but tired. Restlessness surges in his blood like the rhythm of some distant tide, and his swaying steps along the Pearl's deck are unconsciously in rhythm with that inner pattern.
He's humming something under his breath, and occasionally takes a drink from the bottle of rum that's carelessly dangling from his fingers.

Date: 2006-09-14 03:21 am (UTC)He pauses, then strolls to the rail and looks down at the man on the shore.
"And it's dear old Adam." Jack grins wickedly at him. "She's not here, mate."

Date: 2006-09-14 03:25 am (UTC)His shout holds a hint of annoyance.
"I was just wondering if you new, precisely, why it is my wife's put herself in prison."

Date: 2006-09-14 03:34 am (UTC)He takes a deep breath and shoves hands deep in his pockets.
"Am I going to have to shout here all evening?"

Date: 2006-09-14 03:39 am (UTC)Jack beckons grandly to him.
"Come aboard, if you like."
The little raft is visible floating near the Pearl's stern, and he indicates it questioningly.

Date: 2006-09-14 03:43 am (UTC)"Might as well."

Date: 2006-09-14 03:46 am (UTC)"Just a moment then, son."
A few seconds later Jack's pulled up the line. With a snap of his wrist, he sends it soaring shoreward in a high arc, right toward Adam.

Date: 2006-09-14 03:51 am (UTC)"Now. Jack. Would you care to tell me why it is- what happened?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:02 am (UTC)Still, the first thing he does before answering the question is offer the bottle of rum.
"The lass has a bit of a temper, wouldn't you say?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:03 am (UTC)"It's usually well-deserved."

Date: 2006-09-14 04:06 am (UTC)"She kicked over a chair, dumping the wench what was in it to the floor."
After a moment, he thinks to add,
"She said it was hormones."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:12 am (UTC). . . . .
"Who was in the chair?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:17 am (UTC)"Now how is it, lad, that you knew to come looking for me due to what your bonnie lass did, and you don't know the details of said events and circumstances what took place in the bar earlier, hey?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:20 am (UTC)Wait. WAIT. That was phrased poorly.
"All she would tell me was that there was an altercation. And that you and Norrington were there."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:25 am (UTC)"Son, whatever the lass ever gave me, she was perfectly willing." Jack grins wickedly at him.
A beat, and he raises the bottle of rum.
"Take this, for example."
Black eyes are sparkling with devilish mischief.

Date: 2006-09-14 04:31 am (UTC)"Help yourself, mate."

Date: 2006-09-14 04:33 am (UTC)"You don't get anything from her anymore."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:35 am (UTC)"No need to jump salty, mate. It's rum."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:40 am (UTC)Of course, the ever moving bottle of rum says differently.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:42 am (UTC)"Give over, son," he says wearily. "Alanna's a friend of mine, savvy?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:44 am (UTC)"So, what happened?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:45 am (UTC)He's still looking out over the water, but the shore's not that far off-- and Jack's gaze is fixed on the bar, for once.
"She dumped her to the floor." A beat. "Name's Elizabeth Swann."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:48 am (UTC)oh.
"Oh. She's the one who, uh."
Adam Young, ever eloquent.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:49 am (UTC)"The one who what, mate?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 04:53 am (UTC)"Who's responsible for you dying?"
It's mostly a question.
Mostly.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:00 am (UTC)His left hand tightly clenched at his side, Jack studies Adam for several long seconds before he turns away again.
"Not so simple as all that, son." Quietly said.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:04 am (UTC)It's a simple admission, and not simple at all. But his voice is lower, and has lost some of its edge.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:09 am (UTC)"How long's she to be in the cells?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:12 am (UTC)no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:15 am (UTC)"She's still there tomorrow, son, you come find me again."
There's something grimly forboding about the simple words.
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:19 am (UTC)"And if I get her out?"
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:23 am (UTC)"Then it's up to you, mate. But I'll be here."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:27 am (UTC)"I'll be seeing you again, Jack."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:31 am (UTC)He hasn't missed the small theft, and Jack's grin is wickedly amused as he says,
"After all, we've yet to drink to your children-to-be, savvy?"
A beat.
"All three of them."
no subject
Date: 2006-09-14 05:34 am (UTC)And with a satisfied chuckle, he's back overboard again, and on his way to deal with Alanna.
...it's a good thing he took the rum.
