*Adam pulls Paul close again, and puts one of his hands over Paul's eyes. He spins them around so that Paul's back is to the lake, takes a few steps toward the lake, and gives a push*

SPLASH

*Paul lets out a blood curdling screech and claws at the water. He sputters and struggles to keep his head above it.

He is only in up to his knees*

*Adam reaches into the box and pulls out a bottle of suds and a long scrub brush and wades into the water*

Now, now, Paul. It's for your own good.

*Still seething and sputtering*

No!

Not...a bath!!!

Oh, yes, Paul. A bath.

*he pours some of the suds into the water, and the lake is suddenly filled with great giant soap bubbles. He puts the bottle back on the shore and, tapping the scrub brush on his hand, walks very slowly towards Paul*

*Paul hisses menacingly. Baths are not him. When he thinks of baths he thinks of submerging the more enthusiastic patients in ice water as they pounded and scratched at his arms. The tank doesn't count. Paul hasn't had a bath in a long, long time*

No!

Yes.

*smiles, menacingly*

Oh, yes.

*he comes closer still*

You wouldn't dare...

I think we've already established, Paul, that I would.

What's the problem? Don't you like bubbles?

*laughs, and pops a four foot bubble that floats by his head*

*Hisses*

I don't like baths.

But Paul, if you take a bath, you'll be clean. And-

*Adam starts coughing and turns a rather funny colour red*

Anyway. I'd like for you to take a bath. Please?

*Paul growls, a sulky expression on his face, but he does slump still in the water.*

What's in it for me?

*thinks, and walks a bit closer before speaking softly*

I am.

*Paul freezes.

Paul stares.

Paul manages to get a hold of himself, and folds his arms.*

Okay.

*Adam looks a bit surprised for a moment, but takes advantage Paul's stillness to move in for the attack. He quickly takes Pauls shirt of and dunks it in the soapy water, lowering his face to hide his awkward look. It is still there when he looks back up, though, and he hesitates for just a moment before starting to scrub at Paul's back with the brush*

*Paul tries, but cannot help but arch in pleasure. The lake water is surprisingly warm for something that was recently frozen. He cocks a head curiously at Adam's expression.*

What?

Nothing.

*he smiles, and uses the brush to scrub away layers of dirt from Paul's shoulder before leaning over and resting his head on it*

*Paul attempts valiantly to continue sulking, but loses.

He pushes away the wave of dizziness that accompanies happiness leeching at his energy.

His knotted, matted curls flop into his eyes. He blows at them futilely.*

So'm I clean?

*Adam smiles*

Not yet. Still have to wash your hair, don't we? And, um.

*he looks downward, hands Paul the brush and flops backwards into the water, looking distinctly not at Paul*

You don't seriously expect me to do it...

*pops his head out from under the water, looking very uncomfortable*

You do... that, and I'll help you wash your hair. Promise.

*Taunting*

You...embarrassed? You never seen one before?

*He's not red. not at all. maybe pink. a little. but not a girly colour pink. perhaps it's more of a red after all*

'Course I have! Been in school, haven't I? Just not...

*Adam coughs again, and dives back under*

*Paul smirks and waits for Adam to resurface.*

*When Adam finally does resurface, he's further out in the deep water, trying to regain what little composure he had*
