Adam's been spending a lot of time outside with Alanna, but not usually from this vantage point. He snickers a little as he watches people pass below.

The snickering is what draws her attention, and Lucy grins up at him.

"Better not fall."

"No one ever plans on falling," she points out, logically, and smiles again.

"I suppose," Lucy beams.

She smiles and beams and grins, and as tired as she is, that thought brings the light back to her face.

"Alanna told you, then?"

"Oof! Adam!"

The thing is, she's laughing, but she's holding almost too tightly, with that hug he's given back.

"Getting married," she informs him after several moments, quietly.

Because it's nice to say.

"I'm happy," she confirms, and it's true.

"I'm...terrified, a little," she admits, "but I'm happy. I'm very much looking forward to being Mrs--well, not Mrs, but. His wife."

"Thank you, Adam." It's quiet, but it's felt, as Lucy laughs, a little.

"I suppose we should figure details out at some point. I don't think we'll quite manage the simplicity you and Alanna did."

"...Adam," Lucy says after a moment, "I love you dearly. And our relationship has never been anything like normal, so really I suppose that would be as appropriate as anything else. But I'm not entirely certain that Caspian would agree to you marrying us." She elbows him, a little, gently, after a moment. "But you could give me away."

"Is that a yes?" It's a little muffled by his shoulder, but she's grinning.

"Good," she says calmly, kissing his cheek.

"It seems right."

Because Peter is her brother, and her High King, and she loves him, and Edmund is her brother, and she loves him, but Lucy...

Sometimes Lucy think she walked away from both of them long ago, or they walked away, or a bit of both.

But Adam is--Adam is Adam is Adam, and she'll ever love him, in a way that's only for him, and Lucy has ever walked on her own, without looking back, but...

But Adam held her hand when she needed him to. So she thinks she'd like him to hold her arm for that.

"That's been most of it," she admits, and it's...almost true.

"--Tired."

Lucy just looks out and over at the lake, and breathes in the grass and flowers.

"All gifts have a price. Even yours," she says finally, almost echoing Aslan's words, and for a moment
stranger things have come true
she's more there than here, despite being awake
and Adam can see what Lucy would look like at thirty years and five
and then she shrugs and looks back at him.

"I'm tired," she says again, finally.

Que serĂ¡, serĂ¡.

"Lilly," she says, finally, "wants to throw me a bachelorette party."

Because. Sometiems you don't say sorry, and so you can't say, "It's okay," back, but you can still smile, maybe.
